Description
Chief city of Ajmer-Merwara, which the Imperial Gazetteer describes as 'an isolated British Province in Rajputana' administered by the Chief Commissioner.
Historical notes
Ceded by Daulat Rao Sindhia in 1818; site of the dargah of Khwaja Muin-ud-din Chishti and of Mayo College (1875), founded for the sons of Rajputana chiefs.
