Description
Capital of the North-Western Provinces / United Provinces, at the confluence of the Ganges and Jumna, and headquarters of the Allahabad Division.
Historical notes
Seat of the provincial government and of the High Court of the North-Western Provinces (1866); the Indian National Congress met there in 1888 and 1892. Renamed Prayagraj in 2018.
