Description
Capital of Baroda State, the Gaekwad Maratha dominion of Gujarat and one of the five largest princely states.
Historical notes
Sayajirao Gaekwad III (1875-1939) made it a byword for progressive administration - compulsory primary education, a state railway and a university. Now Vadodara.
