Description
Chief port and head-quarters town of Godavari District on the Coromandel coast, referred to throughout the Imperial Gazetteer as the Cocanada taluk of Godavari District.
Historical notes
Grew with the Godavari delta irrigation works and the East Coast Railway as an export point for rice and oilseeds. Now Kakinada.
