Description
District in the Southern Division of the Bombay Presidency in the Kannada-speaking country, with the district head-quarters at Dharwar town.
Historical notes
Its cotton trade grew with the Southern Mahratta Railway; the district was a centre of the movement for a united Karnataka. Now Dharwad.
