Description
District and divisional head-quarters of eastern Oudh, adjoining Ayodhya, and an early capital of the Nawabs of Oudh.
Historical notes
Shuja-ud-daula made his residence at Fyzabad in 1765 before the court moved to Lucknow, as the Imperial Gazetteer's Ajodhya entry records; colonial spelling Fyzabad. Merged into Ayodhya district in 2018.
