Description
Former Talpur capital of Sind and district head-quarters; the Imperial Gazetteer indexes it as 'District, taluka, and city in Sind, Bombay'.
Historical notes
Fell to the British after the battle of Miani/Hyderabad in 1843; distinct from Hyderabad in the Deccan. Its fort and bazaar dominated lower Sind's trade.
