Description
Desert fort-capital of Jaisalmer State, noted in the Imperial Gazetteer for its buildings of local yellow limestone and the Jain temples within the fort.
Historical notes
A Bhati Rajput state on the Sind caravan routes whose trade declined once railways bypassed it; it entered treaty relations with the British in 1818.
