Description
Winter capital of the Dogra state of Jammu and Kashmir, on the Tawi river at the edge of the Punjab plain.
Historical notes
Gulab Singh's Dogra dynasty ruled from Jammu after acquiring Kashmir in 1846; the court moved seasonally between Jammu and Srinagar.
