Description
Frontier cantonment and district head-quarters south of Peshawar, controlling the Kohat Pass and the Kurram route.
Historical notes
Held by the Punjab Frontier Force and repeatedly the base for expeditions against the Afridi and Orakzai; transferred to the new North-West Frontier Province in 1901.
