Description
Chief town and garrison of British Baluchistan, in the highland Quetta-Pishin District described by the Imperial Gazetteer as bounded on the north and west by Afghanistan.
Historical notes
Permanently occupied in 1876 and the base for operations towards Kandahar in the Second Afghan War; the Staff College was established there in 1907. Devastated by the earthquake of 1935.
