Description

Largest British cantonment in a princely state, established in 1806 on the Nizam's territory north of Hyderabad city as the base of the Hyderabad Contingent.

Historical notes

Named after Nizam Sikandar Jah; the Imperial Gazetteer refers to the Secunderabad brigade and division of the Indian Army. Now part of Hyderabad.
