Description
Head-quarters of Vizagapatam District, Madras, and a flourishing seaport 484 miles by rail from Madras according to the Imperial Gazetteer.
Historical notes
One of the northern Circars ports; the district was among the largest in the presidency and included the Agency tracts of the Eastern Ghats. Now Visakhapatnam.
