Description
Nilgiri hill cantonment near Coonoor; the Imperial Gazetteer records it as head-quarters of the Colonel on the Staff commanding the Southern Brigade of the Ninth (Secunderabad) Division.
Historical notes
Barracks built from 1852 as a convalescent depot for European regiments in southern India; home of the Madras Regimental Centre and, since 1950, the Defence Services Staff College.
